Hey friends! I’ll be appearing in a staged reading of “The Last Butterfly,” a play by my friend Richard A. Heller, founder and artistic director of Theatre Convivio. He’s been working on this script for years and it’s a huge deal for him. It’s great to play a role in helping him bring it to life.
What’s more, it’s for a good cause! A portion of all ticket sales for the three performances will be donated to Amazon Watch, an organization devoted to protecting the Amazon rainforest and supporting the livelihood of indigenous peoples.
In “The Last Butterfly,” Planet Earth finds itself in peril from oxygen depletion, deforestation, and corporate greed. When a plague compromises the health of children around the world, it’s up to a brilliant scientist, her loyal assistant, some concerned inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest, a group of aliens from outer space, and a grumpy old grandpa to find the cure and save the planet from extinction.
It’s definitely a play for Ashland!
I’ll be playing the scientist, Dr. Ruth Putney. The rest of the cast will be announced soon. From what I know so far, it features a lot of talented people. There will also be sound design from the brilliant Eric Raber!
Readings will take place at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland, Oregon. A percentage of all ticket sales will be donated to relief efforts to protect the Amazon rainforest.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7th, at 7:30 p.m.
