I’m Mig. I’m not a welder, I’m a writer.
/director/producer/actress
I’m Mig Windows, and before you ask, I am not a window company or in any way affiliated with Microsoft. I am also not a Russian fighter jet (last I checked).
I AM, however, a performer and storyteller based in Ashland, Oregon. I serve on the board of directors for Film Southern Oregon, helped found the production company ROW 211 FILMS, and have acted in/been involved with many projects in the area, including EMMA WAS HERE, ONE STEP AHEAD, PHOENIX OREGON, REDWOOD HIGHWAY, FROM THE DARK, and more film and theatre productions. I have written over twenty-five screenplays, thirty stage plays, dozens of short stories, and the beginning sentences of eighteen novels. I’ve successfully brought some of my scripts to life by directing short film adaptations of them thanks to the amazing resources Southern Oregon has to offer. Some of my scripts have received staged awards, nominations, and public readings from various festivals.
“Over the past several years, Windows has starred in a number of locally produced and filmed films, including Redwood Highway and a smattering of horror films...”

By day, you can find me typing up a storm as a Creative Producer for the Ayurvedic company Banyan Botanicals, a wonderful and ethical business (and as of 2019, a certified B-corp!) whose headquarters are here in Ashland. When I’m not there, I’m doing my part to collaborate with and support local, independent creative projects for film and theatre in the community.
Follow this site to stay up-to-date with my projects and fun goings-on as I continue to explore and expand the creative world of Ashland and beyond. Hit me up if you’d like to collaborate.
Best wishes to your success,
Mig

New on the blog…
*Trigger Warning* This is a very sad, true story about a friend who committed suicide on New Year’s Day, and my grieving process. It might be upsetting for some people. If you or someone you know has been experiencing suicidal thoughts or ideations, please reach out to someone who can help. Here is a link with resources located around the world: http://www.iasp.info/resources/Crisis_Centres/
I’ll be playing Melissa in “The Drunken City” by Adam Bock! Read more about the show and learn how you can watch it in person or via livestream.
In my opinion, most of the media coverage on this has been inaccurate, sensationalized, and unfairly biased toward painting my co-star as a villain. Headlines that refer to her as a “killer actress” who “played a killer in a horror movie” have more or less perpetuated a game of telephone.
It was a chilly winter day in Ashland when Rory Owens and I met up at the downtown Starbucks to talk about making a film. I had spent the day before writing the script in that same Starbucks, at the next table over.
The truth is that How To Marry A Vampire was a big pipe dream of mine that proved to be much more difficult to pull off than I had originally anticipated…
At the end of this blog post, I am sharing my latest short film, BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS, to celebrate its rejection from a film festival and my recent discovery about how okay that is.
Bathroom problems of the elderly aside, there is definitely a lesson to be learned there. You need to remember your audience. It’s something I’ve struggled with sometimes as an eccentric weirdo with a tendency to speak in long anecdotal diatribes. When my characters do the same thing, one’s ability to stay attentive can become a problem.
The story of how a casting director once told me that being 25 meant I ‘had 5 years left to live.’
I’ll be playing Rosaline in Love’s Labour’s Lost at Shakespeare by the Sea in San Pedro, CA from August 13th through the 22nd!
